Elon Musk, Other AI Experts Call for Killer Robot Ban

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk along with 115 other bogus intelligence and robotics experts are calling on the United nations to ban autonomous weapons, which they argue could exist catastrophic.

"Lethal autonomous weapons threaten to become the third revolution in warfare," the experts wrote in an open up letter of the alphabet released Mon. "One time developed, they will permit armed disharmonize to be fought at a scale greater than e'er, and at timescales faster than humans can embrace. These can be weapons of terror, weapons that despots and terrorists apply against innocent populations, and weapons hacked to deport in undesirable means."

They are calling on the United nations to prevent an AI artillery race and protect citizens.

Musk has been issuing warnings about the dangers of AI for years. In 2022, he and more than ane,000 other AI and robotics researchers (including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and professor Stephen Hawking) endorsed an open up letter alarm against the technology. Penned by the Future of Life Establish, that alphabetic character warned that AI weapons evolution could lead to a global artillery race—much like the ane that erupted over the atom bomb.

Earlier this month Musk tweeted that AI poses "vastly more than risk than Democratic people's republic of korea."

He too recently traded jabs with Facebook CEO Marker Zuckerberg over AI. In a livestream Zuckerberg denounced doomsday scenarios about AI and cited its benefits to humanity, among them matching patients with treatments that are tailored to them and the improvements in safety that cocky-driving cars could deliver. Musk tweeted that Zuckerberg's "understanding of the subject is limited."

In the alphabetic character to the UN today, Musk is not lone. The listing of signatories likewise includes Mustafa Suleyman, cofounder of the Google-owned AI firm DeepMind, as well as executives from two dozen North American firms and companies across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The group ended their note with a stern warning: "We practice not have long to act. In one case this Pandora's box is opened, information technology will be hard to close."
